  • Little Changed Since HIPAA Implemented

Rule intended to guarantee medical privacy has yielded complaints, but very few cases brought to court.

WASHINGTON - In the three years since Americans gained federal protection for their private medical information, the Bush administration has received thousands of complaints alleging violations -- yet it has not imposed a single civil fine and has prosecuted just two criminal cases.

Don't Forget the Letters of Testimonial

Promote your business through client satisfaction while building a nice testimonial portfolio.

There comes a period of time in the relationship you have with your client when a "letter of testimonial" becomes ripe for the asking. Only you will know the right time - but don't wait too long! Although your client may still be very happy with your services months down the road, they tend to forget the shape of their receivables prior to utilizing your services if too much time has passed.

Obtaining a letter of tesimonial from each of your clients is invaluable to your business and promotion and is easy to ask for. The 60-90 day mark is usually a good time frame --- giving your client time to analyze the benefits you have provided as his/her medical billing outsourcing agency.

The letter obtained from your client should briefly address his/her satisfaction and the benefits gained from the relationship. Compile a portfolio of testimonials and be sure to use these when approaching prospective clients!

Workers Compensation - Illiniois - Did Ya Know?

    Q. What is the time deadline to file a Workers' Compensation claim in the State of Illinois?

    A. The time deadline to file a Workers' Compensation is also called the Statute of Limitations. The Statute of Limitations to file a Workers' Compensation claim in the State of Illinois is three (3) years from the date of the accident or two (2) years from the date the injured employee last received Workers' Compensation benefits, whichever is later. The Statute of Limitations on a "repetitive trauma" claim can be various dates.

Do you like what you do? Well, I do and I love to tell people about my business and my passion! Two years ago I decided to leave my job of 23 years at a major corporation and start my own business. I loved what I did but driving two to four thousand miles every month was getting old. My husband and I rarely got to spend time together because, not only was my job extremely time consuming, his was too. He also worked for the same corporation and his hours were long (24-36 hours at a time) for days on end. I wanted to do something that would provide more time for each other and for our daughter and her growing family.

So began the search for what to do. It had to be something that I could do from home -- I had been "on the road" for too many years. After investigating quite a number of opportunities, Dave and I decided that Medical Billing was the right choice. I decided on an LLC and Velocity Medical Billing Services, LLC was born!

I had looked into many different courses but had no trouble deciding that Medical Billing Course.com was the one for me.
