| Medical Billing Clerk Average Salary |
 |
|
According to Salary.com, the median
expected salary for a typical Medical Billing Clerk
in the United States is $29,896. The 75th
percentile salary is in the range of
$32,402.
Note that this is not the income you can
realize as a medical billing business owner, it
is the average salary you can expect employed
within a physician's office as a Medical Billing Clerk.
There is a big difference. In a Medical Billing
Business, this type of income should
easily be seen with just one or two
clients.

| Medical Billing Certification |
 |
When searching the internet, many people come
away confused about Medical Billing Certification
and understandably so! After
googling "medical billing certification", the
content on some websites will lead you to believe
that "medical billing certification is required nationally
in order to perform medical billing." This is
simply not true. Certification is not
required to perform medical billing.
Are there Medical Billing Certificate Programs?
Yes, there are.. but a medical billing
certificate program is simply a certificate of
completion in the course work that you have
chosen to purchase.
Is is a good idea to receive certification?
Absolutely. Just remember that your
certificate is only as good as the course work or the
reputation of the entity providing you with the
certificate.
If you run across an entity who leads you to believe
that they offer a "board reviewed" nationally
recognized certification in medical billing, ask or
determine who the "board" is. You will find
that the entity providing the "certification" and
the "board reviewers" are usually one-in-the-
same.
So, the bottom line is ... when choosing a
course in medical billing, don't choose one based
upon "certification."
- Certification is not required
- There isn't any type of formal/required "national
credentialing exams" for medical billing
- If a course "certifies you", they are providing you
with a statement of completion of their course work.
PERIOD.
Choose a course based upon previous
student satisfaction, course content, BBB Reports
and reputation of course provider.

| Three Industries Poised for Job Growth in 2006 |
 |
|
Resolved to find a new job this year?
Consider
focusing your efforts on companies in the health-
care, biosciences or technology industries.
Recruiters
and economists say these fields will lead the
nation
in new-job creation in 2006.
Here are some U.S. job-growth projections for 2006
from research firm Moody's Economy.com:
- Hospitals: 100,000, up 2.4% from 2005
- Physicians' offices: 86,000, up 4%
- Computer-systems-design and related service
- Biotech companies, a subset of the bioscience
The most growth in these industries will be seen in
rank-and-file clinical and technical jobs, but
opportunities for executives and professionals
will
increase as companies in these fields
expand, say
recruiters. The forecast comes amid a healthy
outlook for the broader senior-level job market.

Physician Accounting Services
Guntersville, AL
My husband Roger (CPA) has operated a small-
town
firm catering to physician's for 4 years now.
When
he "retired" from an accounting firm in 2000, it wasn't
long after that he decided that he missed working
with numbers and Physician Accounting
Services was
born.
Roger noticed that his clients seemed to have
something in common. Whether working with
his
clients in a professional capacity or playing a round
of golf with them, the topic of "insurance
billing"
would usually come up. Roger has been
asked by
several of his clients if he would be willing to take
over their billing, and Roger, being the astute
realist
would always respond, "Sorry, that is not my field
of
expertise."
To make a long story short, Roger and I decided that
I would retire from my position of 17 years as a
secretary/reception for a local factory and I
would learn whatever necessary to allow us to
incorporate medical billing into our existing
accounting business.
Initially, I took a course in medical billing through
an association that kept popping up in my search
engine. I didn't know anything about medical billing
so I was able to learn some --- but didn't feel that I
learned enough. I hit the search engines again and
found Medical
Billing Course.com, and not wanting to
waste any more money, I put them to the
test. I poured through their website and
spoke to several of their students through
email and telephone. I was provided with
the comfort I needed to purchase their course and
I was pleasantly surprised with the level of
education I received!
Roger and I added "Medical Billing" as a service to
our business and as a result, I handle the
billing for 7 physician's offices and I have 2 on
a waiting list while my newly hired employee
also completes the course from Medical
Billing Course.com.
"Retirement" has been good to us.
